The release of the Rhode pocket blush, is it worth it?

What is the Rhode pocket blush?

The Rhode pocket blush is a product created by Hailey Bieber, this is a lightweight, buildable cream blush stick by Rhode skin designed for cheeks and lips.

What are the benefits of Rhode pocket blush?

The Rhode pocket blush has a satin, dewy, skin-like glow finish that is not greasy or sticky. It has a creamy finish that melts seamlessly into the skin. The Rhode pocket blush lasts for over 8 hours  and has skincare benefits with peptides and tamanu oil, that hydrates the skin. It is designed to be compact, travel-friendly and cost £25. It is also Vegan, cruelty free, fragrance free, gluten-free and dermatologist-tested.

What are the controversies?

The current controversies surrounding the Rhode pocket blush is the shade inclusivity for dark skin tones, according to popular beauty influencer Golloria George in 2024 said that she was disappointed for the poor shade ranges. When she tested shades Juice box, Spicy Marg and Toasted Teddy, she noted concerns with the blush leaving a "ashy" white cast on her dark skin or did not show up on her skin tone. She argued that in 2024 makeup brands should be complexion and colour inclusive to all skin tones. In result to this Rhode skin took accountability, compensated her for shade consulting and adjusted the formulations, releasing deeper toned blushes.

Another issue is the packaging, how the Rhode pocket blush has a "deodorant" shaped packaging that beauty influencer critiqued about the chunky aesthetic of the container, comparing the the twist up mechanism and shape to a miniature stick of deodorant. There was also issues with ingredient labelling legality, where chemical engineers questioned if the small packaging violated FDA/FTC labelling standards failing to print the full ingredient list directly onto the immediate container rather the box.

Why does A Star cosmetics Star cream blush prove better?

The Star cream blush is better, due to it's ability for all shades to be available to deeper skin tones, such as Be honest (a pale pink) and Just beige (a nudey peach). The star cream blush has a creamy texture, gliding smoothly onto the skin, blending effortlessly onto the skin. The Star cream blush beats the Rhode pocket blush with longevity, with 12+ hour wear, it has a radiant glow allowing a vibrant glow throughout the day. The versatility of shade ranges is perfect for a blush that matches your skin tone. The Star cream blush has skin loving ingredients, due to the cream blush having moisturising ingredients that are great for acne prone skin. Buildable coverage. The pricing is worth it for a 20ml/0.67oz full size cream blush costing £15, cheaper than the Rhode pocket blush. The Star cream blush is also Cruelty free, vegan and compact, Travel proof.
